As the CEO of Treeways, Johnny brings more than 55 years of experience in the utilities services industry. Johnny started his career at Duke Power, where he spent 30 years working his way up from a line construction technician to Region Manager and ultimately, a Sub-Process Owner.
Johnny played an integral role at several other utilities services companies including, President of Energy Delivery Services, President of Mastec’s Energy Group, and multipole other executive level roles at companies such as Agros Utilities Group and Wilbros. Most recently Johnny was the T&D Group President at PLH Group where he oversaw the integration of eight separate businesses and helped improved the profitability across several business lines and divisions.
Johnny holds a BS in Businesses Management from Limestone College.
Roxanne serves as Chair of the Board of Treeways, where she is responsible for leading all activities for the Board of Directors. She has more than 25 years of experience in the utilities end market and previously served as CEO of PowerTeam Services, a provider of repair, maintenance, replacement, and installation services to natural gas and electric utility companies, backed by Kelso & Company.
Additionally, she was the Global President of Switchgear Business for Cooper Power Systems and held various leadership roles at ABB and Siemens. Roxanne has spent much of her career working with and growing private equity-backed groups.
As CFO, Patrick oversees the support functions of the Treeways Group and portfolio companies, including finance, human resources, safety, technology and fleet operations.
Patrick is a results-oriented executive with a strong financial foundation and diverse set of operational experiences. Prior to joining Treeways, he worked at Keypoint Intelligence, Perseus, kgb, and Dun & Bradstreet. At these companies, he held many senior roles, including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, VP of Sales, and Head of Corporate Development.
Patrick holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science in International Business from Albright College.
In his role as Director of Fleet Operations, Bob oversees fleet maintenance/management processes for the Treeways Group and its portfolio companies.
Bob has worked for the past 40 years in the fleet industry for numerous companies including Verizon, Valley Proteins, Inc., Lewis Tree Service, Iberdrola USA, and Massaro Detroit Diesel Allison. He has held diverse positions ranging from vehicle maintenance to fleet management.
A graduate of Ohio Diesel Technical Institute and Warren National University, Bob has achieved several fleet management/maintenance certifications including, Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) from the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA), Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) from the National Private Truck Council (NPTC), Certified Director of Maintenance/Equipment (CDM/E) from the North American Transportation Management Institute (NATMI) and Master Truck Technician from Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
As the CEO of Treesmiths, Joseph Smith has 38 years of experience within the Utility Vegetation Management industry. Starting as a groundhand, he worked in every facet of the industry. Climbing through the ranks, his leadership skills and strong work ethic, eventually earned him various management positions, from General Foreman to Regional Vegetation Manager.
In 2002, Joseph helped found Treesmiths, with a fleet of 15 trucks, and 30 employees. Since those early years, Treesmiths has grown to employ 350+ employees, with a fleet of 275+ trucks.
Well respected in the Utility Vegetation Management industry, Joseph works directly with the customers and is a hands-on leader. He has earned many industry specific accreditations, and licenses. All this, while taking every opportunity to visit the field, in an effort to help mentor the employees, and develop the next generation of utility arborists.
As a Treesmith, Joseph lives by the philosophy to approach every situation with a questioning attitude, yet always thinking of the safest, and most efficient, way to complete the job properly. However, his ultimate goal, as a Treesmith, is to make the customer better.
A graduate of Edinboro University, John’s role as President of Hazlett Tree Service stems from a “lead by serving” paradigm. Having started as a climber in 1977, John has worn many hats throughout his career, including volunteering in his community; he served as Town Councilman for many years, and continues to serve as a Director at a community bank in Northwest Pennsylvania.
Much of what John practices in his leadership role and what he, in turn, teaches by example to his Leadership Team at Hazlett Tree has been learned during his passionate pursuit of long-distance running, as well as his dedication to continuing education and goal setting on the job. He believes excellence is not only achievable but is a reasonable expectation for those committed to putting others first.
A true technophile, John enjoys every opportunity to provide advanced computer training to his staff to promote improved communication.
